SF5K Frequently Asked Questions

For the 2016 Strawberry Festival 5K and Fun Run

Is it too late to register?

No, and we'd love to have you join us! Please help us spread the word. Online registration is now closed, but you can register at packet pick-up and on the day of the race. The Fun Run is $10 and the 5K is $30. We accept cash, credit/debit, and checks made payable to CPSC.

Do I have to run the entire time?

We welcome all speeds. Walkers, joggers, fast and slow runners, and little ones in jogging strollers are all welcome!

Where is packet pickup?

You can pick up your race bib, tshirt (if you’re registered for the 5K), and final racing instructions:
Friday May 6 from 3-6pm in front of CPSC elementary school: 724 Foster Street, Durham.
Saturday, May 7 from 8am to 9:15am at the Registration Table in front of Fullsteam Brewery: 726 Rigsbee Avenue, Durham.

Where do I register and check in?

Registration and Check-in is near the starting line in front of Fullsteam Brewery on Rigsbee Avenue.
Fun Run Registration and Check-in will be open from 8am to 8:45am
5K Registration and Check-in will be open from 8am to 9:15am

Where can I park?

We recommend the two big lots south of the Farmers' Market as shown on our Parking Map. Shuttle busses will be running between these lots and the festival, but they will not be operating at race time. Please plan to arrive early enough to find parking and make your way to the start area by 9:00AM.

Please do not park in the public spaces close to 724 Foster Street -- please save them for patrons of neighboring businesses. Especially do not park at the Mini-Mart at the corner of Foster and Trinity; they WILL tow your car. Do not park at the YMCA or Durham Athletic Park

Where & when does the race start & end?

The race will begin next to Fullsteam, but will finish in front of Central Park School for Children on Foster Street. Family and friends, who want to cheer you on to the finish, should gather near the Trinity & Foster intersection. The Fun Run will begin at 9am, and the 5K will begin at 9:30am.

Where will I be running?

You will race along the streets of downtown Durham, loop through Duke Park, and finish up on Ellerbee Creek Greenway. Please pay attention to course markers, volunteers and signs so you don't go off course!

Is there an aid station?

There will be an aid station with water and strawberry lemonade at the halfway point.

What will be waiting for me at the finishing line?

There will be water, bagels, and bananas waiting for you at the finish, along with a special strawberry treat from Locopops! Relay Foods will also be there, with a special booth. Finishers will also receive a Finisher’s Medal.

Are there any post race activities?

Absolutely!! There will be goodies and a Strawberry Locopop waiting for our runners at the Finish Line. Our top three overall winners will receive tickets to the Strawberry Festival. We also have the following activities planned:
Zumba in the parking lot -- 10:30
Strawberry Festival: 11am-4pm

Who is watching my child?

If you are registered to run in the 5K, we will watch your child(ren) while you run. Please walk your child to the Foster Street Parking lot and sign them in/out. Please pre-register for child care so we can make sure we have enough volunteers to watch your children.
If your kids are running in the Fun Run, we will have someone walk your child from the Fun Run to the Childcare Area.

Who do I contact if I have a question?

You may contact Tiffany Grant at tiffany@cpsfc.org or (919) 682-1200.

We look forward to seeing you and hope you have a great race!
