OLD After-School Program (removed July 2017)

Register online in July for After-School and Before-School care!

Central Park School for Children's After School Program (ASP) supports the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of students through age-appropriate enrichment and recreational activities.

Want to check out our program? Contact the ASP Director for a tour.

We are hiring After-School Counselors! Please see our Employment page for details.

HOURS: ASP operates from school dismissal to 6 pm.

EARLY RELEASE DAYS: ASP operates on all early release days (monthly early releases as well as the last day of each quarter). Care on those days can be arranged for children who don't usually attend ASP; see fees and sign-up information below (in the Rates section).

EARLY CLOSING DAYS: If school is dismissed early due to inclement weather, ASP is canceled.

ASP Activities (K4)

The ELEMENTARY and MIDDLE SCHOOL after-school programs are completely separate, with each program at its own building.

Students are divided into age-level groups. Kindergartners have their own group.

Our afternoon includes a healthy snack and a mix of outdoor and indoor creative play — dramatic play, arts & crafts, hands-on activities, Kapla blocks, sports and organized games — plus a 30-minute period of rest and quiet reading.

4th Graders and Middle Schoolers have 30 minutes of homework time in their ASP schedule.

Enrollment is by the quarter. Mid-quarter enrollment and schedule changes cannot be accepted. A registration link will be posted toward the end of each quarter.

A minimum commitment of 3 days per week is required. Families may choose which days their child(ren) will attend but may not change that schedule in mid-quarter.

For families new to ASP, the registration deadline is 10 days before school starts. Families continuing in ASP should register before the end of the school year.

New ASP enrollments and schedule changes are accepted during intersession breaks, with the enrollment deadline one week before the quarter begins. Contact the ASP director to discuss availability.

Late Pickup Fee

Pick your child up by 6:05 pm to avoid to avoid fee of $1 for every minute you are late, due within 24 hours of the late pickup.

If pickup is late more than twice in a quarter, the family will be asked to meet with the ASP director to discuss eligibility for ASP.

Insufficient Funds Fee

$25. Repeated return of payments will require cash or cashier's check for future payments.

Emergency Care Fee:

$25. Maximum of 3 times per year. Must be scheduled in advance. See Emergency Care Policy.

Program Rules

All rules in the Parent Handbook apply to the ASP program.

If your child consistently struggles to follow ASP rules, he or she may be suspended or asked to leave the ASP program.

Emergency Care Policy

Emergency Care must be arranged BY NOON of the day it's needed — and preferably by the day before.

CPSC can provide emergency after school care (for a $25 fee) three times per family per school year. The student's family must email Eli Carley, ASP director, by noon that day at eli [at] cpsfc.org to take advantage of these emergency drop-ins.  Otherwise, the Late Pick-Up policy in our Parent Handbook will apply ($1 per minute late).

If you think your child might experience some stress entering ASP as a first-time drop-in, please let the ASP director know so that he may ensure your child's success.
