Lunch Caterer ()

Events and Communications Manager ()

Position Reports to: Director of Development / Executive Director

Position Overview
The Events and Communications Manager works as part of the school’s Development Team in providing critical funding support for the operations and projects of Central Park School for Children and the School’s Foundation through attention to detail and excellent performance in many areas. This staff member will work collaboratively with other team members, organizational staff, board, and volunteers.

Position duties
*Acting as chair of the various events at school, including our Grandfriends Muffin Morning, Read-a-thon, and our main major fundraiser, the annual Strawberry Festival
*Creation of weekly school wide newsletter
*Managing social media accounts and posting
*Support in extending gratitude to donors: timely mailing of thank-yous and donation confirmations and other correspondence
*Assistance in maintaining a complete, functional and consistent development database and records
*Coordination, production and distribution of Development fundraising materials
*Accurate and timely management of banking transactions

Primary Location
Central Park School for Children Development Office, 121 Hunt Street, Durham. Work will be done independently from home during quarantine until further notice.

Salary Range
Dependent on Skills and Experience

Employment Type
Part-Time (10 Hours per Week) - non-benefits bearing

Skills and Experiences:
*Belief in Central Park School for Children’s mission, education model and core values
*Experience in planning events
*Knowledge of Canva, Mailchimp, and social media outreach preferred
*Strong project management skills
*Superior writing and communication skills
*Experience working in complex databases, preferably development
*A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic
*The ability to motivate and work effectively and diplomatically across diverse teams within an organization
*Good judgment and strong initiative
*Strong organizational and time-management skills – ability to create and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency including calendar management
*Interest in and aptitude for managing multiple responsibilities, with excellent attention to detail and consistent high quality of output
*Upbeat, positive, and outgoing with very strong interpersonal skills
*Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to work independently
*The ability to take initiative in identifying challenges and actively working to find solutions
*Strong work ethic and commitment to high standards of excellence coupled with an enthusiastic approach to one’s work
*Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
*Ideally previous experience in development and fundraising activities including annual fund, capital campaign, or grants management preferred
